Making online learning platforms enjoyable

élogos

Experientia transformed the experience of online learning through an e-learning platform designed for the Spanish/Latin American training consultancy élogos.
We focused on creating a strong social experience with fellow learners that would allow students to discover the “pleasure of learning” within a community of peers.

3 things to know

  1. Experientia created an innovative online learning platform for Spanish/Latin American training consultancy élogos.

  2. We focused on creating a strong social experience that would allow students to discover the “pleasure of learning” within a community of peers.

  3. To ensure that we captured all their users’ needs, the platform was iterated 7 times following co-creation and testing sessions.

We undertook extensive research using a variety of qualitative methods to create the new learning platform. We evaluated different ways of presenting content, and ensured that the design considered diverse learning mental models. These research methods included a usability review of 20+ e-learning websites, card-sorting activities with élogos alumni and staff, as well as a separate co-creation workshop in Madrid.

The site introduces several innovations to e-learning, including:

  • Using visual metaphors taken from the real world
  • Contextual information depending on the student and their specific learning path
  • The ability to highlight, write and share notes with fellow students
  • A calendar for both personal and course events
  • Continual contact with teachers and fellow students through a suite of community tools

We then worked through an agile process, developing 7 interactive prototypes and conducting 5 rounds of usability tests to validate and improve the platform.

Our final deliverables include a user requirements document, card-sorting report, information architecture specifications, a style guide and an advanced prototype.

Marcos Eguillor, élogos’ Director of Digital Strategy, congratulated Experientia on the final platform:
“Congrats, once again, on your high quality delivery. It’s becoming usual that I acknowledge your work, but this is just because it’s also normal that you meet or even exceed expectations! I recall when I pushed for you and don’t regret it at all.”
