You can play a shoestring if you're sincere - John Coltrane

Tommaso Ottaviani is the Business Development Officer of Experientia, and runs the Milan branch, where he is involved with project management and supervision.

Prior to joining Experientia, he worked as a business consultant in several strategic firms, delivering marketing and customer management projects for clients in the finance sector, as well as SKY Italia, MSC Cruises and Fastweb.

At Experientia, he is in charge of Business Development (for both new and existing clients), developing research and design practices, and project management.

Tell me about the last time you were struck by inspiration.

In an interview, James Holden (musician) talked about his complex and inspiring composition process. But with one sentence he raised the bar too high. He was trying to play with four polysynths built by the best company in the world (actually, I play with one mono-synth, and I don’t feel any pain…) but the result was not as he expected. So he re-built the polysynths to meet his expectations, as a software. If I have to find my own idea of working hard, being inspired, aiming at a target and being the best in what I do, this is my story. (little hint: I still use the mono-synth, and I have no idea of what kind of mess can be made with four polysynths. Only time will tell me…).

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

The same answer that my father would give: cucumber with salt. You just peel the cucumber, cut it in two halves, and dip it in salt. Simple but wonderful.

What do you like to listen to while working?

Requirements: not sung (absolutely not sung in Italian), interesting, not too rhythmic. This makes Krautrock the best music to listen to while working. In one song? Hollywood, by Cluster.
